I started work at SaskTel in Aug ’96 as a Data Business Rep.
I have had the opportunity to “trial” a few jobs on “Expressions of Interest.” I worked as an SGR and a Service Advisor for 3 years. EOI’s are a great way to see if a job is really for you. The size of SaskTel’s business also allows employees to broaden their horizons - I recently became a Voice Sales Associate which is very different from my other roles at SaskTel.
SaskTel opens doors to other areas – during “lunch and learns” we can find out things that may be outside of our comfort zone. SaskTel also gives employees the opportunity to give back to our community. One way is through volunteering for the SaskTel Pioneers, or you can donate money to the TelCare fund which is allocated to charities in the community. You can also be involved in HOOP (Help Our Own People) – to help employees and retirees who are in need of assistance – mostly for medical issues.
SaskTel’s diverse workforce has created interest group networks such as the Committee for Recognizing Diversity, SEND, SAEN, YouthNetwork and the NextGen’ers . With these groups you can meet new people while giving back to your community.
SaskTel also encourages further education and offers many learning opportunities. SaskTel has given me the opportunity to acquire my Diploma in Business Administration. If you pass your classes – SaskTel pays!
SaskTel truly is about the people that work here. To new employees I would say “welcome” – following footsteps is not necessary – making new ones is!
