Facilities Technician

SaskTel's Facilities Technician's preview, analyze and coordinate the installation, testing, repairing, maintenance and removals of outside plant facilities, riser and feeder facilities on customer premises. They are also responsible for monitoring and inspecting work performed by contractors.

Requirements for Facilities Technician:

Facilities Technicians require Grade 12 with Level 30 Algebra and Physics, must be able to work independently, have good communication skills and have the ability to deal effectively with others.

Customer Service Technician

SaskTel's Customer Service Technician (CST) positions provide high quality customer service with the installation, maintenance, repair and removal of customer equipment, outside plant facilities and switching equipment in remote areas. Entry level and more senior CST positions exist in the corporation, located throughout Saskatchewan.

Requirements for Customer Service Technician:

The education requirement ranges from Grade 12 with Level 30 Algebra and Physics to a Certificate in Electronics or Computer Science Technology, depending on the level of the CST position. All successful candidates must have the ability to work independently, have general knowledge of personal computers and various software applications, possess good communication skills and have the ability to deal effectively with others.

Trunking and Switching Technician

There are various Trunking and Switching Tech (TST) positions within SaskTel, each with a different set of job duties. Some TST positions provide high quality customer service through installation, removal, analysis, repair, and maintenance of equipment in the transport, digital switch, wireless, special services network and associated administrative systems. Job duties for a TST in Saskatoon SSIC, is responsible for implementing all aspects of customer service requests on the Distribution Frame and to perform related maintenance and installation of DMS1U, PCM and DC Power system. A TST in PNOC monitors alarmed Network Elements, refers alarms to appropriate Maintenance or Control Office for corrective action and coordinates all network activity and administers various procedures and reports i.e. failures, threats, releases.

Requirements for Trunking and Switching Technician:

Education qualifications range from Grade 12 with Level 30 Algebra and Level 30 Physics or Level 30 GeoTrig, to a two year certificate in Electronics or Computer Science. All successful candidates require good communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with others.

Shop Technician

SaskTel's Shop Technicians are responsible for testing, repairing, assembling and refurbishing telephone sets and related set equipment and tools.

Requirements for Shop Technician:

These positions are considered entry level and require either Grade 12 Algebra or Physics, or completion of an AC/DC course. Individuals who wish to be considered for this position must be able to plan and organize in a self-directed environment, must be physically able to lift and carry heavy equipment, possess good communication skills and have the ability to deal effectively with others.
