The 2008 Award recipient for Leadership is the group nomination of Act Now. These students are from grade 9 to 12 and attend the Stobart Community High School. The group is comprised of First Nations and Metis students. This is a student run and student developed program that promotes respect and develops anti-racism and cross cultural programming. Act Now has created a powerful workshop they have taken on the road, throughout the province at youth conferences in Asquith, Hepburn, Leask, Blaine Lake, P.A and Saskatoon to name a few and last year had the opportunity to present at the World Peace Forum in Vancouver, BC.
Act Now focuses on the topic of Racism and how to celebrate diversity and build bridges of understanding through communication. The students of Act Now are making positive changes in their own community, their school and other places they are asked to visit. Their courage and sensitivity to tackle the issue of Racism is exemplary and powerful. They are indeed a model of inspiration for a better society.
Congratulations Act Now!
