to Raquel Pasap

The 10th Anniversary Commemorative Award is for an individual that exemplifies the vision of the Wicihitowin Foundation “helping each other” and a leader for tomorrow. The award recipient is Raquel Pasap she is 17 years old and is from Carry the Kettle First Nation and attends school at Nakoda Oyade Education Center currently in grade 12 at her home community. Raquel has been on the honour roll since grade ten, she is the captain of the senior girls volleyball team, Junior Chief for the past two years, President of Students Against Drinking and Driving and as well is a math tutor.

Raquel excels in leadership situations, she likes to think big picture and express creativity in projects she undertakes. She is recognized as a great role model to all the students in the school. Raquel is very knowledgeable of her Nakoda culture and history. Raquel states her values are the three F’s – Family, Future and Friends. She values her culture, is proud to be a First Nations and hopes to pass this on for the rest of her life to the next generations. Raquel will be graduating from Grade 12 this year and her goal is to attend the University of Saskatchewan this fall and go into pre-medicine.
