Community commitment
Events
SaskTel prides itself on its community involvement and as such, is pleased to provide support for a broad range of organizations, groups and people in their events across the province.
Arts and Culture
 |
SaskTel actively supports dramatic productions, provincial concerts and other arts and culture programs throughout Saskatchewan. These programs encourage the people of Saskatchewan to explore their horizons, while emphasizing the creativity and artistic talent that this province has to offer. This is highlighted by our title sponsorship of the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival since 1995. The Saskatchewan Jazz Festival has grown to be one of the major jazz festivals in Western Canada and one of the most important summer cultural events in Saskatchewan. With an audience of over 45,000 attending each year, to see bigger and better acts like BB King, Diana Krall and K-Os, its popularity has brought Saskatchewan national recognition on the music scene. |
Athletics
 |
Athletics are an important part of our everyday life; they bring people together and promote a healthy lifestyle. SaskTel echoes this claim by providing assistance to sporting events that portray Saskatchewan and its people in a positive light to the rest of the country. One of these events is the SaskTel Tankard, an event that SaskTel acquired title sponsorship for in 2003. The SaskTel Tankard is the premier curling event in Saskatchewan. It pits Saskatchewan’s top male curlers against one another in the Provincial Men’s Curling Championship, with the winner capturing a trip to the Brier to represent Saskatchewan. |
Community
 |
Saskatchewan is a tight knit community, made up of those who are always willing to lend a helping hand. SaskTel is no exception. SaskTel has been involved with the Kinsmen Telemiracle since 1997. This yearly event, which is broadcast province-wide, raises money to assist people with special needs and those that require assistance accessing medical treatment. It is just another example of SaskTel’s continuous dedication to providing support to the people of Saskatchewan. |
Conferences and Associations
 |
SaskTel sponsors approximately 50 different conferences throughout the province on a yearly basis. From Livestock Conventions to Music Symposiums, these events bring together residents from throughout Saskatchewan and beyond. One of the larger conferences that we assist is the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities’ (SARM) Annual Convention. This event, which has been taking place for over 100 years, brings together 1450 reeves, councilors and rural municipal administrators. Allowing an opportunity for different companies, government agencies and special interest associations to meet the present decision-makers of rural Saskatchewan. |
Education
 |
The young people of Saskatchewan will be an integral piece of this province’s future growth and prosperity. With such a prominent role ahead for the children of Saskatchewan, SaskTel is delighted to aid in various educational opportunities. Although SaskTel supports programs at each level of learning, our accomplishments are most notable through our Post-Secondary support. SaskTel is actively involved with the University of Regina and University of Saskatchewan Orientation and Welcome Week Events. This includes the University of Regina Week Of Welcome Event in which SaskTel is the feature sponsor of an outdoor concert for the students. SaskTel also recently was a main contributor to the creation of the SIAST Mobile Training Unit. A vehicle that can be moved among Saskatchewan communities to support the local delivery of pre-employment trades training and apprenticeship technical training. |
Diversity
 |
SaskTel's diversity reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. SaskTel is dedicated to valuing people for their uniqueness and individuallity, repecting the ways in which we are different and similar. With this in mind, SaskTel ensures that we provide support to all community groups across Saskatchewan, especially those with an Aboriginal focus. Two events that SaskTel supports on a larger basis are the First Nations Summer and Winter Games and National Aboriginal Day. The First Nation Summer and Winter Games, held on alternate years, bring together 5,000 First Nation participants, to promote competion and growth. These games provide life long memories and instill pride in both the First Nation community and the Saskatchewan community at large. National Aboriginal Day is celebrated annually on June 21st. It presents Aboriginal peoples with an opportunity to express great honor as they share their rich diverse cultures with their families, neighbours, friends and visitors by way of various events throughout the province. |
