SaskTel comfort packs

SaskTel comfort packs are lined up and ready to be distributed around the province.

SaskTel’s employees have officially kicked off the holiday season.  Starting this past Tuesday, November 29, over 1000 comfort packs have started being delivered around the province to help keep people warm this holiday season.

In mid-September, a “Comfort Pack Challenge” was launched for SaskTel’s employees.  Over the course of a month, our employees and SaskTel Pioneers volunteers donated a variety of items (e.g. toothpaste, shampoo, blankets, socks, soap, etc.) and money in an effort to fill as many backpacks as possible.

"We are extremely proud of the generosity shown by our staff during this challenge", said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO.  "It’s great to see our employees and volunteers pitching in around the Province to help others."

Thanks to the generosity of our employees, volunteers, and community members, employees were able to assemble 1070 backpacks full of invaluable personal items, fill 80 boxes of blankets and sleeping bags, fill 22 boxes of additional personal items, and raise over $13,000 in monetary donations towards the cause.

We also received a helping hand from seven Grade 10 students from Punnichy Community High School, who visited SaskTel’s Head Office in the morning of November 2, 2016.  They all happily volunteered their time to help sort and pack the thousands of items that had been collected throughout the Challenge.

Our first drop-off was scheduled at Carmichael Outreach in Regina, Saskatchewan.  On November 29 at 2:30 p.m., Ron Styles and other SaskTel employees visited Carmichael and dropped off over 60 comfort packs and six boxes of blankets and sleeping bags.

“Leading up to the holidays, we will be distributing all of the backpacks and boxes to 22 organizations in 10 different communities across Saskatchewan,” added Styles.  “It’s our sincere hope that this helps bring warmth this season and put a few smiles on deserving faces.”
