2006 news releasesBienfait, Caronport, Hafford, Stewart Valley Get Better Cell ServiceMarch 10 , 2006 SaskTel today announced the improvement of digital cellular service in Bienfait, Caronport, Hafford, Stewart Valley and their surrounding areas. " SaskTel remains committed to expanding and improving digital cellular service in this province ," Deb Higgins, Minister Responsible for SaskTel said. "These latest initiatives are part of the ongoing $28 million expansion which brings SaskTel's total investment in digital cellular service since 1998 to $120 million." "SaskTel understands that reliable coverage is critical for many of our customers and digital service with 1X functionality improves call clarity, enhances privacy and provides wireless customers with access to e-mail, corporate databases and the internet ," Robert Watson, SaskTel President and CEO said. "We will continue to evaluate the network to provide our cellular customers with the latest wireless technologies over the largest wireless network in the province." Residents in Bienfait will experience improved coverage in town and along local highways, including Highway 39 to Estevan. Caronport residents will experience improved coverage in town and along local grid roads as well as Highway 1 east to Moose Jaw and west to Mortlach. Residents in Hafford will experience improved coverage in town and along Highway 40 east and west and along Highway 340 south. Stewart Valley residents will experience improved coverage in town, along Highway 4 between Swift Current and Kyle and at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park. SaskTel has the most extensive cellular network in Saskatchewan. Digital and 1X cellular service provides advanced functionality that allows customers to send and receive text messages and photos, push-to-talk, browse the internet, download video clips, perform banking transactions and access real-time information such as news, weather and stock quotes.
