2006 news releasesDirectWest Expands Directory Business into Calgary MarketMay 15, 2006 DirectWest Corporation (DirectWest), a wholly owned subsidiary of Saskatchewan Telecommunications Holding Corporation (SaskTel) today announced it will invest up to $2.5 Million in The Phone Book Company Partnership (The Phone Book Company) over the next three years to fund further expansion within the Alberta market into Calgary and area. "This expansion continues to build on DirectWest's successful track record and provides a great opportunity for new revenue and profit growth within the Alberta market," Gord Farmer, President & CEO of DirectWest said. "Generating profitable new revenue, while leveraging our directory expertise and experience, remains a key focus towards continuing our financial success over the long term." DirectWest currently holds an 85% interest in the Phone Book Company and Midwest Marketing Inc. owns the remaining 15% interest. DirectWest will continue to provide its back office and directory infrastructure support and experience to the business, while Midwest Management's experience and knowledge of the Alberta market will continue to add significant value to the partnership. The Phone Book Company currently publishes directories in Red Deer, Edmonton and Grande Prairie and will publish its first directory in Medicine Hat in June 2006. The independent directory business continues to grow and prosper across North America, generating double digit annual growth rates. There are established independent directories in all provinces across Canada, and the expansion of this industry segment is expected to continue through 2006 and beyond.
