Mother's Day is the Busiest Calling Day of the Year

SaskTel expects close to 1.2 million long distance call attempts

May 10, 2006

SaskTel is preparing for another busy Mother's Day - Sunday, May 14. With the continued popularity of SaskTel Bundles and long distance savings plans, SaskTel is projecting 1.2 million long distance call attempts on Mother's Day this year.

During peaks in calling there is always the possibility of network congestion, especially during the busiest hours. To minimize delays or busy signals, customers should avoid calling between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Mother's Day. It is best to place direct-dialed calls instead of operator-assisted calls. Callers should also check the phone number before they dial and take time zone differences into consideration.

SaskTel projects that 46% of the long distance calls will be to Saskatchewan locations, while 53% will be to Canadian destinations outside Saskatchewan and 1% of the calls will go to the United States and overseas.
