SaskTel reduces residential local access rates in Regina and Saskatoon

June 2, 2006

SaskTel today announced that the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) has given SaskTel interim approval to reduce residential local access rates in Regina and Saskatoon from $22.00 to $21.54 per month effective June 1, 2006.

This rate reduction is contained in SaskTel's proposal to fulfill a CRTC requirement to reduce local access charges in large urban areas.

"SaskTel is pleased to provide this rate decrease while complying with CRTC decisions and regulations," SaskTel President and CEO Robert Watson said.

The rate reduction took effect June 1, but it is important to note that this rate reduction has received the CRTC's interim approval only and is subject to change.

SaskTel will not be reducing local access rates in other areas because they are already priced below costs.
