2006 news releasesSaskTel to Offer Major Enhancements to Max™ Entertainment ServicesSeptember 19, 2006 SaskTel today announced it has received approval from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to offer several major enhancements to SaskTel Max™ Entertainment Services. SaskTel will be introducing a pay-per-view service and local community programming on demand this fall. “SaskTel will soon be able to offer our customers a bigger, better Max experience that includes pay-per-view and totally unique community programming on demand,” SaskTel President and CEO Robert Watson said. “Our customers have asked for an enhanced Max service, and we’re proud to give them what they’ve asked for.” The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has given SaskTel approval to operate a pay-per-view service, which will launch shortly. Pay-per-view allows customers to view exclusive broadcasts of live events such as concerts and sporting events. Customers pay only for what they watch. The CRTC has also amended SaskTel’s broadcast licence to allow the addition of Video on Demand community programming to SaskTel Max customers through the Max Front Row™ Video on Demand service. SaskTel is aiming to launch Max Local on Demand before yearend. Max Local on Demand will offer all Max customers original local community programming on demand, something no other Saskatchewan service provider currently offers. With Video on Demand, viewers choose which program to watch, when they want to watch it, while enjoying DVD-like functionality, including play, pause and rewind.
