As part of the SaskFirst policy, the process of divesting HospNet and AgDealer has begun. In addition, SaskTel has decided it will divest its real estate investment in Saskatoon Square, as the investment is not considered core to SaskTel’s business.
A third party is being secured to provide brokerage services for the divestitures. As well, an Expression of Interest is being posted on the SaskTel website for Real Estate brokers on March 17, 2010. A public sales process will begin following the selection of the company or companies to provide brokerage services. The process could take several months to ensure all opportunities are investigated.
“SaskTel has experienced tremendous success in 2009,” said SaskTel President and CEO Robert Watson. “We will continue to focus our efforts on meeting our customers’ communications needs in Saskatchewan.”
HospNet provides communication and entertainment services to healthcare locations nationwide. AgDealer is a trader-type magazine and website for agricultural equipment produced through DirectWest. Saskatoon Square is a commercial building located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. There will be no job losses at SaskTel as a result of these transactions.
