SaskTel Anticipates Another Busy Mother’s Day

More than 1.2 million long distance calls expected on May 9th

May 7, 2010

SaskTel projects that customers will place more than 1.2 million long distance calls this Mother’s Day, May 9th. That estimate includes approximately 900,000 wireline and 300,000 wireless long distance calls.

During any peak in calling there is always the possibility of network congestion, especially during the busiest hours. To minimize delays or busy signals, customers should avoid calling between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Mother’s Day. It’s best to place direct-dialed calls instead of operator-assisted calls. Callers should also check the phone number before they dial and take time zone differences into consideration.

SaskTel projects that 45% of the wireline long distance calls will be to Saskatchewan locations, about 52% will be to Canadian destinations outside Saskatchewan, and about 3% of the calls will go to the United States and overseas.

Customers can save on long distance calling with SaskTel calling plans and flexible bundles. More information is available at www.sasktel.com.
