SaskTel projects that its customers will make approximately 765,000 long distance calls this Christmas Day, December 25. That estimate includes 615,000 wireline calls and 150,000 wireless long distance calls. SaskTel also projects that customers will send approximately 8 million SMS text messages on Christmas Day.
“The holiday season is a time for family and friends. SaskTel is proud to help customers get in touch with their loved ones at this special time of year,” said Ron Styles, President and CEO. “SaskTel would like to thank all customers for their support over the past year and to wish them a safe and happy holiday.”
As always, the increase in long distance calling during the holidays may result in some temporary network congestion. This is a normal result of any sudden increase in activity on SaskTel’s wireline and wireless networks.
Customers can minimize any inconvenience by remembering to:
About 43 per cent of Christmas Day calls are expected to be made to locations in Saskatchewan, while about 52 per cent of the calls will be to Canadian destinations outside of the province. About 5 per cent of the calls will go to the United States and overseas.
