Residents of Nekaneet First Nation will now be able to enjoy the benefits of SaskTel High Speed Internet service. This expansion is part of a previously announced initiative to provide High Speed Internet service and 4G coverage to 28 First Nations communities in Saskatchewan over the next two years. (See Backgrounder for a complete list of communities and tentative schedules.)
“This innovative partnership will provide these 28 First Nations communities with access to Saskatchewan’s most extensive communications network,” said Bill Boyd, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “Residents of these communities will now be able to take advantage of the many educational and business opportunities provided by the latest Internet and wireless technologies.”
“SaskTel is proud to offer High Speed Internet and 4G wireless services to 28 First Nations communities over the next two years,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. “We’d like to thank our partners, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada and Saskatoon Tribal Council, for their contributions to this tremendous project.”
SaskTel High Speed Internet service is many times faster than dial-up, allows a simultaneous phone conversation on the same phone line, and includes unlimited time online. Local Authorized SaskTel Dealers have full coverage information and service details or visit www.sasktel.com/internet.
