SaskTel warns customers of email phishing scam
Some SaskTel customers are receiving scam emails from a third party purporting to be SaskTel, similar to the following:
From: SaskTel
Subject: You have 1 new Security message From SaskTel
You have 1 new Security message From SaskTel .
https://webmail.sasktel.net/magnum/themes/branding/2370/index.html
As this e-mail is an automated message, we can't reply to any e-mails sent by return.
These emails are not legitimate SaskTel emails. If customers click on the link in the email they are taken to a fake login page that looks nearly identical to the official SaskTel.net email account login page. If the customer attempts to log in, this page could enable criminals to harvest user name and password information from the customer. The customer is automatically routed to SaskTel’s actual email platform so they are unaware that their email password may have been compromised.
SaskTel is working with our email platform vendor to block this illegal activity. However, due to the nature of the Internet, scams, viruses and other such activity are very difficult to stop and will continue to be a reality for all email users.
SaskTel urges SaskTel.net customers to take the following action:
