SaskTel celebrates 5 years of community programming with Max Local on Demand
Five years ago SaskTel added community programming to the Max™ lineup with Max Local on Demand. When Local on Demand launched on December 13, 2006, SaskTel was the first service provider in Canada to offer community programming using a video on demand platform.
Today Max customers can choose from more than 250 programs in 20 categories. There have been more than 2.4 million video plays since the service launched in 2006.
“It’s been a pleasure to watch our customers embrace Max Local on Demand over the past five years,” said Stacey Sandison, Chief Marketing Officer. “Local on Demand’s unique programming lineup will continue to put a spotlight on local events and attractions across the province while delivering educational and fun content that viewers won’t find anywhere else.”
Most of the content on Max Local on Demand is produced by a Saskatchewan-based production company. SaskTel also sources pre-produced content from across the province. Saskatchewan residents are invited to submit programming suggestions and can also submit their own videos.
Popular Max Local on Demand programs include the “Max Magazine” current affairs show, “Riders to the Max” featuring coverage of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, amateur sporting events and musical performances. SaskTel also recently introduced high definition videos to the service.
