infiNET coming to the Battlefords

January 29, 2018

Today SaskTel announced plans to expand infiNETTM, Saskatchewan’s fastest fibre optics network, to Battleford and North Battleford. Construction will begin in the spring of 2018 with infiNET expected to be available in some neighbourhoods by early summer.

“Today’s announcement further demonstrates SaskTel’s commitment to the people of our province.” said Joe Hargrave, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “As the leading communications provider in Saskatchewan, SaskTel has invested millions to ensure that we have access to world-class networks and services that greatly enhance the lives of people in our province.”

infiNET is a game changer,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel Acting President and CEO. “By bringing fibre right to our customers’ homes we’re able to provide them with speeds that are unmatched by any other network in Saskatchewan.”

infiNET is being deployed through SaskTel’s Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) program, a $670 million investment to bring fibre optics directly to homes and businesses by upgrading SaskTel’s broadband network across Saskatchewan’s nine largest cities. Beyond the immediate benefits of faster Internet speeds, this network enhancement will have added benefits down the road. As demands for more bandwidth and faster speeds increase, infiNET provides SaskTel with a flexible platform that can quickly grow to meet its customer’s needs.

infiNET provides amazingly fast speeds - up to 300 Mbps downloading and 80 Mbps uploading – the fastest available in Saskatchewan.

  • Upload and download data, movies, music, and more in a fraction of the time
  • Stream HD movies, play games, and video chat without freezing, pixelation, or dropped connections
  • Get unlimited downloading with no overage fees

In addition to Internet access, infiNET also offers HD programming and digital TV recording delivered to every maxTVTM set-top box in a home.

  • Watch HD on up to 7 TV's
  • Record up to 4 programs simultaneously with maxTV PVR
  • Get more bundling options for maxTV with even faster Internet speeds
  • Stream Netflix right on the maxTV set-top box

The FTTP program is part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest $1.4 billion across Saskatchewan through 2021. Investments like these will ensure that Saskatchewan will continue to receive some of the best communication and entertainment services in the world.
