SaskTel continues to improve internet access and speed in rural Saskatchewan

July 5, 2018

Today SaskTel announced that it has launched High Speed Internet service in Aquadeo Beach, Mervin, Mission Lake, and SaskTel has also introduced faster internet service in Fort San. Residents of all four communities can now enjoy the benefits of SaskTel’s High Speed Internet service with two packages to choose from, interNET Extended 5 and interNET Extended 10.

“This is very exciting news for our community,” said Brian Adamiak, Administrator for the Resort Village of Aquadeo. “Having High Speed Internet will be a great benefit to our residents and may also help to attract newcomers to our wonderful corner of the province.”

“Our government understands that many aspects of our daily lives are increasingly touched by digital technology and as a result, access to High Speed Internet has become a key driver to our overall social and economic success,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel.

“We’re committed to bringing fast and reliable communications services to the people who live and work throughout our province,” said Doug Burnett, Acting SaskTel President and CEO. “With interNET Extended service our customers have all the bandwidth they’ll need to surf, stream and download as much content as they want.”

High Speed interNET Extended 5 offers download speeds of up to 5 Megabits per second (Mbps) while High Speed interNET Extended 10 offers download speeds of up to 10 Mbps. Both packages include unlimited usage, free installation, in-home Wi-Fi, spam and email virus filtering, and 24/7 helpdesk support – all for one low monthly price.

These initiatives are part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest $301 million of capital in Saskatchewan in 2018/19 and over $1.4 billion through 2018-2023. These investments will ensure that all Saskatchewan residents will continue to receive some of the best communication and entertainment services in the world.
