SaskTel extends internet service further into rural Saskatchewan

August 31, 2018

Today SaskTel announced that it has expanded DSL internet service to the Villages of Veregin, Stenen, and the Hamlet of Neuanlage.  In addition, SaskTel has also introduced faster internet service in the community of Kitsakie, part of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band. Residents of all four communities can now enjoy the benefits of SaskTel’s Internet service with two packages to choose from, interNET Extended 5 and interNET Extended 10.

“I am delighted to hear this expansion has made its way into our community,” said Victor Wasylenchuk, Mayor of Stenen “I have no doubt that residents and businesses alike will benefit from such an important service.”

“SaskTel understands the importance of providing rural communities with the modern communication services they need to stay connected with their busy lives,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel.

“Providing fast and reliable internet services throughout Saskatchewan remains one of our key priorities and we’re pleased to connect these new communities to our expansive network,” said Doug Burnett, Acting SaskTel President and CEO.

interNET Extended 5 offers download speeds up to 5 Megabits per second (Mbps) while interNET Extended 10 offers download speeds up to 10 Mbps.  Both packages include unlimited usage, in-home Wi-Fi, spam and email virus filtering, and 24/7 helpdesk support – all for one low monthly price.

This expansion is part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest $301 million of capital in Saskatchewan in 2018/19and over $1.4 billion through 2018-2023. These investments will ensure that all Saskatchewan residents continue to receive some of the best communication and entertainment services in the world.
