SaskTel Launches High Speed Internet in Two New Communities

March 1, 2018

Today SaskTel announced that it has launched High Speed Internet service in the villages of Maryfield and Tugaske. The residents of both communities can now enjoy the benefits of SaskTel’s High Speed Internet service with two packages to choose from, interNET Extended 5 or interNET Extended 10.

“This is fantastic news for Maryfield.  Having High Speed Internet will help our community grow socially, economically, and open online learning opportunities for our young people.  In addition, having High Speed Internet may also help to attract newcomers to our village,” said David Hill, Mayor of Maryfield.

“Our government understands the critical role that the Internet plays in today’s economy,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “By investing in and expanding their world class networks, SaskTel is helping to pave the way to a successful future for our rural communities and the province as a whole.”

“We are committed to providing the residents of Saskatchewan with the fast and reliable communications services they need to stay connected,” said Doug Burnett, Acting SaskTel President and CEO. “With interNET Extended service our customers have the bandwidth they need to quickly surf, stream, and share as much online as they need.”

High Speed interNET Extended 5 offers download speeds of up to 5 megabits per second (Mbps) while High Speed interNET Extended 10 offers download speeds of up to 10 Mbps.  Both packages include unlimited usage, free installation, in-home Wi-Fi, spam and email virus filtering, and 24/7 helpdesk support – all for one low monthly price.

This expansion is part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest over $300 million in capital in Saskatchewan in 2017/18 and $1.4 billion through 2016-2021.  These investments will ensure that all Saskatchewan residents will continue to receive some of the best communication and entertainment services in the world.
