SaskTel unleashing faster internet in rural Saskatchewan with the launch of interNET Extended 25

July 30, 2018

Today SaskTel announced that it is bringing a whole new level of speed to rural Saskatchewan with the launch of interNET Extended 25. With download speeds up to 25 Megabits per second (Mbps), interNET Extended 25 is the fastest internet service SaskTel has ever offered in rural Saskatchewan. Launching today in seven communities, SaskTel plans to expand interNET Extended 25 to more rural communities in the future.

interNET Extended 25 is now available in Balgonie, Davidson, Grenfell, Indian Head, Lumsden, Whitewood, and Wolseley.

“I am excited that SaskTel has decided to provide faster internet service to our town,” said Gerry Hill, Mayor of Wolseley. “I welcome this excellent opportunity for our residences, businesses, schools, and health care institutes to have the advantages faster internet service will bring.”

“This announcement marks another significant milestone for SaskTel and internet connectivity in rural Saskatchewan,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “This new, faster internet service will help to further bridge the digital divide in rural Saskatchewan and open more opportunities for those who live and work there.”

“We’re excited to bring faster internet service to rural Saskatchewan because we understand the integral role that it plays in modern life,” said Doug Burnett, Acting SaskTel President and CEO. “With interNET Extended 25, our rural customers will have more bandwidth than ever before to surf, stream, share, and download as much content as they want.”

SaskTel now offers interNET Extended 5, 10, and 25 in all seven of these communities, providing residents with a wide selection of internet services to choose from. interNET Extended 5 offers download speeds up to 5 Mbps, interNET Extended 10 offers download speeds up to 10 Mbps, and as mentioned previously, interNET Extended 25 offers download speeds up to 25 Mbps.  All three services include unlimited usage, in-home Wi-Fi, spam and email virus filtering, and 24/7 helpdesk support – all for one low monthly price.

These internet upgrades are part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest $301 million of capital in Saskatchewan in 2018/19 and over $1.4 billion through 2018-2023. These investments will ensure that all Saskatchewan residents will continue to receive some of the best communication and entertainment services in the world.
