2008 news releasesSaskTel improves cell service for Antler, Cabri, Hunting Lake areasJuly 29, 2008 SaskTel today announced digital cellular coverage improvements in the Cabri, Antler and Hunting Lake areas. Customers in the Antler area can expect improved coverage along Highway 13 between Redvers and the Manitoba border. Customers in Cabri can expect improved in-town coverage. And as a result of improvements in the Hunting Lake area, customers traveling Highway 4 can expect improved coverage between Meadow Lake and Turtle Lake. “Saskatchewan benefits from one of the most extensive cellular networks available anywhere, along with the latest in wireless devices and services,” Minister of Crown Corporations Ken Cheveldayoff said. “SaskTel’s efforts to deliver even better coverage to Saskatchewan residents and the business community continue with this latest announcement.” “SaskTel understands that reliable coverage is critical for many of our customers and digital service with 1X functionality improves call clarity, enhances privacy and provides wireless customers with access to e-mail, corporate databases and the internet,” said Robert Watson, SaskTel President and CEO. “We will continue to evaluate the network to provide our cellular customers with the latest wireless technologies over the largest wireless network in the province.” These latest improvements are part of SaskTel’s ongoing expansion which will bring SaskTel’s total investment in digital cellular service to over $170 million. Digital cellular service provides advanced functionality that allows customers to use the newest and most innovative services such as sending and receiving text, picture and video messages, communicating via push-to-talk service, browsing the internet, downloading video clips, watching streaming video, performing banking transactions and accessing real-time information such as news, weather and stock quotes all from their cell phone.
