2008 news releasesMother’s Day Calling Set To Increase Due To Population GrowthSaskTel projects first increase in Mother’s Day calling in five years May 8, 2008 As Saskatchewan’s population grows, so too does Mother’s Day calling. SaskTel is projecting a 4% increase this year with over 1.06 million long distance call attempts expected on May 11 – the first increase in the last five years. Mother’s Day is one of the busiest calling days of the year. During any peak in calling there is always the possibility of network congestion, especially during the busiest hours. To minimize delays or busy signals, customers should avoid calling between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Mother’s Day. It’s best to place direct-dialed calls instead of operator-assisted calls. Callers should also check the phone number before they dial and take time zone differences into consideration. SaskTel projects that close to 47% of the long distance calls will be to Saskatchewan locations, over 51% will be to Canadian destinations outside Saskatchewan, and about 2% of the calls will go to the United States and overseas. Customers can save on long distance calling with SaskTel’s unlimited calling plans and flexible bundles. More information is available at www.sasktel.com.
