2008 news releasesSaskTel signs managed hosting contract with Global MainframeJune 10, 2008 SaskTel announced today that it has signed a five-year contract to provide managed hosting services to Global Mainframe Corp. Under the agreement, SaskTel will provide infrastructure management within SaskTel’s world class HP Signature Certified Data Centre for Global Mainframe and its Energy Resource Manager platform. Energy Resource Manager is hosted, managed, upgraded and delivered to its clients via the Internet and is commonly referred to as SaaS (Software-as-a-Service). Clients do not pay for owning the software or hardware, but rather for using it. This is a low-cost way for clients to obtain the same benefits of commercially licensed, internally operated software without the associated complexity and high cost. “We’re very proud that Global Mainframe has chosen SaskTel to host Energy Resource Manager,” SaskTel President and CEO Robert Watson said. “The combination of SaskTel’s HP Signature Certified Data Centre, combined with Global Mainframe’s innovative method of delivering software functionality over the Web, offers Global Mainframe’s clients in the oil and gas sector a powerful Web 3.0 solution to meet their software needs.” “SaskTel complements Global Mainframe by providing the reliability, uptime, rapid issue resolution and security that our business model requires,” Global Mainframe President and CEO Steve Turcotte said. “We believe that our partnership with SaskTel in providing a powerful SaaS solution has the potential to cause a fundamental change in the software industry.” Global Mainframe is the first company in Western Canada to offer SaaS on such a large scale. The base offering is a complete suite of always up-to-date software solutions. The entire platform and software offerings are delivered over the internet so companies do not need to build up costly infrastructure and support teams. The servers, applications and data are managed in a world class secure facility by SaskTel. The facility features fire suppression, power backup and regular backup of data. Uptime is guaranteed to be over 99.7%. About SaskTel About Global Mainframe For more information, please contact: Andy Tate, SaskTel Media Relations |
