Monitoring and Reporting for Network Access - features and benefits

 Basic reports

The basic reporting package includes three reports showing CPU utilization, the volume of traffic in and out of your network and the status and response time of your devices. All reports are displayed in days, weeks, months and years to spot trends. The basic package is available to SaskTel Dedicated Internet customers for $25* per 2-port device per month.

  1. CPU usage: Displays CPU usage as a percentage at a specific time for a server.  This report is useful for determining if a device process or thread is causing an issue, or rule sets have outgrown the capacity of the device. Click image to view larger screen shot of CPU usage report
  2. Traffic In/Out: Displays the traffic flow in and out of the server over the customer interface connection measured in bits per second. This graph can be used to determine the average and peak usage of the network connection Click to view larger screen shot of Traffic in/out report
  3. Device Status/Response Time: Displays whether ORCHID was able to poll the device and the time (including avg.) it took to respond to the poll. The chart provides a proxy for device availability. Click to view a larger screen shot of the Device Status/Response Time

Additional Reports

You can also purchase different individual reports that include more detailed statistics. For Dedicated Internet and LanSpan IP customers, each additional report** is available at $2.50* per 2-port device per month. The following additional reports are currently available:

  1. Discards/Errors: Displays the 5 min average of errors on the interface.
  2. Packet In/out: Is similar to the Traffic In/Out graph, but displays the 5 minute average of packets in and out on the interface.  It’s useful for troubleshooting device resource issues.
  3. Fast Ethernet: Reports the amount of traffic using your specific device or service.
  4. Round Trip Time: Displays the time for a packet to make a return trip. Use to determine application specific network delays.
Custom reports

You can request custom reports** to get the information you need to help manage your network.  All custom report requests are developed through a continuous dialogue with our technicians.  Each custom report is subject to a development fee plus $2.50 per 2-port device per month on an ongoing basis.
Note: Development of a custom report request is subject to the discretion of SaskTel and only one custom report can be requested per month.
