Private IP and Public IP address blocks

Private IP and public IP address blocks are groups of IP addresses that are specifically designated for use by your company.

Private IP address blocks provide enhanced security and secure connectivity to your corporate network from a 1X/EVDO wireless device. The service may be used with SaskTel’s wireless virtual private network (VPN) service. This will ensure the same security and encryption features as a private network are in place, while receiving the benefits of a large public network. The Private IP addresses are not publicly available on the network, or available for other customers to use.

A Public IP address block is a group of IP addresses that have been specifically assigned for use by your company. The Public IP addresses are publicly available on the network, however are not available for other companies to use.

Benefits

Private IP address blocks are not accessible from the public Internet. This prevents you from being the target of abusive internet activities or attacks. This also prevents corporate information from being vulnerable and at risk from external sources.  

Public IP address blocks are desired by some customers that have access to own their IP addresses and have strict security requirements around the use of those IP addresses.
