BlackBerry Internet Service

BlackBerry Internet Service allows you to integrate your BlackBerry device with up to 10 supported business or personal email accounts, receive and send instant messages, and browse web content while on the go. Unlike the current BlackBerry Internet Service v1.8, the new BlackBerry Internet Service v2.3 allows a more user friendly organized wireless email solution. View the differences between v1.8 and newer versions.

Email:

  • Stay connected by accessing up to ten work and/or personal email accounts on your BlackBerry device. Each email account gets added to your BlackBerry handheld as a separate icon. You can manually hide the icons by scrolling to the icon then holding the ALT key (bottom left key with the half moon) on the BlackBerry device and clicking the trackwheel then selecting Hide Application.
  • Take advantage of push delivery. No prompting is necessary (you do not need to request new mail) and messages are delivered automatically to your BlackBerry device.
  • Manage your mailbox remotely using automatic one-way synchronization as you read, delete and send messages wirelessly. Meaning that your web based inbox will always match your devices’ inbox.
  • Improved integration with 3rd party accounts. Changes made on your BlackBerry device will be reflected in the 3rd party account mailbox: items will be marked as read/unread, sent items will appear in Sent Items folder, and deleted items will appear in Deleted Items folder.
  • Enhanced Google Mail (Gmail) Support. Real-time, push-based, delivery of email messages. Messages are delivered to the BlackBerry device as they arrive at the Gmail inbox – with virtually no delay! Access to all of Gmail’s Domains. BlackBerry Internet Service will support the Gmail and Googlemail domains.
  • Enhanced Yahoo! Mail Support. Real-Time, push-based delivery of email messages for Yahoo Email accounts. Message are delivered to the BlackBerry device as they arrive at the Yahoo! Mail inbox – with virtually no delay!
  • Create an optional BlackBerry email address to receive real-time push delivery of email messages. Messages sent to this address are received and stored right on your BlackBerry device, so you never need to use a desktop computer to manage the account.
    • No email storage quotas to manage for email accounts that are integrated with your BlackBerry device – auto-aging after 30 days means the mailbox never gets full (first in-first out).
    • Anti-Spam Implementation selected is based on industry-leading email security technologies and methodologies.
  • Multiple sent-from addresses. You can select to send a message from any of the email accounts you have configured with your BlackBerry device. Each email account will have a separate inbox and you can assign unique auto-signatures, filters and friendly names.
  • Improved Language Support:Czech, Polish, Simplified Chinese, Hungarian, Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Greek.
  • Auto-Forward: If you have a BlackBerry email address, you have the ability to forward copies of all messages or only messages with attachments for easy online access from a desktop browser.
  • Address Book (vCard) Attachments: You have the ability to attach vCards from your BlackBerry Address Book to any email they compose, view vCards attached to received emails, or add vCards from received emails to your BlackBerry Address Book.
  • Delivery Receipts: You have the ability to know when a message is successfully delivered to another BlackBerry Internet Service Email user’s handheld.  BlackBerry Internet Service Email will send a delivery receipt to the original sender as a notification that a message has been successfully delivered to all recipients or to some subset of recipients.  Requires BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2
  • Read Receipts: You have the ability to know when another BlackBerry Internet Service Email recipient has read a message sent from the sender.  Requires BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2
