Cisco Systems recently honoured SaskTel with the award for Top Secure Wireless Partner for Canada.
This acknowledgment was mainly from the successful implementation of the Saskatchewan!Connected project. The Saskatchewan!Connected project created Canada’s largest outdoor wireless network and the first of its kind to be supported on a provincial or state level in North America. It provides free Internet service in the downtown areas, select business districts, and post-secondary institutions of Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina, and Saskatoon.
SaskTel designed the wireless network and deployed the Cisco ServiceMesh solution, installing 175 wireless access points throughout the 4 cities.
Typically in the industry, a project of this size would take between 18 – 24 months to implement. SaskTel was able to complete the installation of the wireless network in approximately 4 months.
