1X network |

EV-DO Rev A network |
The EV-DO Rev A network lets you use wireless data services such as web browsing, content downloads, streaming video, streaming radio, email and instant messaging at speeds close to residential high speed connections.
The average upload speeds are between 350 kbps and 550 kbps and peak download speeds are between 2000 kbps and 2300 kbps.
See Current and future EV-DO Rev A locations for a list of Saskatchewan locations where EV-DO Rev A coverage is available. |
| UMTS network (coming soon) |
In 2009, SaskTel will begin construction of a new Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) wireless network. This network will enable you to enjoy the benefits of using UMTS and High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) compatible cellular and data devices, and will enable you to use your phone on any network across Canada and around the world. |
SaskTel offers Roaming Partner cellular coverage in two main areas: south of Coronach and south of Lake Alma to the United States (see coverage). This coverage is very limited when using a 0.6 watt portable cellular phone. With a 3 watt transportable cellular phone and external antenna, coverage may be extended.
Through SaskTel partnerships with wireless carriers across Canada, you have access to analog and digital cellular coverage throughout the country. While traveling in Canada, you can access your voice mail and other calling features, and you pay the same airtime rate you pay at home.
A standard long distance rate applies for calls placed and received within Canada, but outside Saskatchewan. When you are roaming in Canada, airtime is billed according to your Mobility service plan. If you have free minutes included in your service plan, you can use those free minutes while roaming in Canada. You will also be billed for all applicable long distance charges.
If you travel frequently in Canada, save on long distance charges with the Wireless Unlimited Talk North America plan or a long distance cellular add-on package.
Data devices
1X devices use 1X service in Bell / Bell West, MTS, Telus and Aliant 1X coverage areas in Canada. There are no special or extra charges for roaming.
EV-DO Release 0, and EV-DO Rev A devices will operate on the EV-DO Rev A network, where available in Canada and when not available, will revert to the 1X network.
While roaming in the U.S., all calls received, and all calls made to Canada or the U.S. are charged at the rate of $0.95 Canadian per minute, with no additional charges for long distance, U.S. taxes or daily surcharges.* You only pay for the U.S. roaming minutes that you use, and these minutes are never deducted from the free minutes included in your rate plan.
Use the Sprint Coverage Tool to search for your travel destination and find out what type of coverage is available.

EV-DO Release 0, and EV-DO Rev A devices will operate on the EV-DO Rev A network, where available in the United States and when not available, will revert to the 1X network.
