Get interactive with short codes

Use short codes to get interactive with your phone!
A short code is a number that you can send text messages to. They’re usually shorter than a regular cell phone number, that’s why they’re called short codes.
You might have already used a short code without even realizing it. If you’ve sent a text message to enter a contest or submit a vote then you’re well on your way to becoming a short code text-pert.
Short code offers can be found in your favorite magazines, in TV or radio ads, even on product packaging. |
What do short codes do?
Short codes are used for all sorts of fun and interactive applications. With short codes you can:
- enter contests
- receive real-time information on how your sports team is doing,
- text in a vote for your favourite reality show contestant,
- participate in chat rooms and flirt through online dating,
- get the joke of the day, weather, entertainment & news information alerts, and
- find out about the latest SaskTel contests and win great prizes.
Using a short code is just like sending a regular text message only instead of sending your message to a 10-digit phone number you send it to a 5- or 6-digit number that’s assigned to an application or contest.
All you need is a two-way text messaging capable phone and you can start interacting.
Try it now – text the word MOBILE to 43210 and receive free alerts on SaskTel downloads, contests, and promotions.
To unsubscribe at anytime text STOP to the same short code.
Short code charges are not included in your Text Messaging plan. Charges can range from free* to $5.00 per message sent or received. All charges will appear on your monthly cell phone bill as ‘Premium Text Messaging’.
Subscriptions are charged on a monthly or per message basis. Please make sure you’re familiar with the charges before you subscribe.
If you want to stop receiving messages from an application you can opt-out by sending a text message to the short code with the appropriate keyword.
The key word is usually sent to you when you first sign up for the subscription. Key words differ from short code to short code but common key words include:
• stop |
• end |
• unsubscribe |
• terminate |
• cancel |
|
If none of these key words work, visit the short code provider’s website or call their toll free number.
*No charge will be applied if the short code is advertised as ‘free’. Any short code listed as ‘standard rate’ will be charged at 15¢ per message. Terms and conditions for each individual short code program can generally be found through the short code provider's website. Current short code programs being offered and links to information about each program, including how to subscribe to or stop service, can be found at www.txt.ca. |
