How to send an International Text Message

  • On your cell phone or mobile device, go to the main menu, then find the ’Message or ’Mail’ function, and indicate OK.
  • Select ’Text Message’ or 'New Message', and indicate OK.
  • In the'Address'’ or 'Send To' or 'Phone Number' screen enter (011 + country code + area code + number you are calling) and indicate OK. Do not include any spaces or hyphens.
  • In the ’Message’ screen, enter your message using the letter on the keypad, and then indicate OK.
  • Press the ’Send Message’ key and your message will be sent.

Example - if you were calling somone in Argentina whose cellular number was 555-1234 - the international number would be 011 - 54 - (area code) -555-1234
Note: Even if you are in the same country as the person you are sending a Text Message to, the above process must be followed when sending an International Text Message.

* To find an area code within a country you can:

  • look at your local telephone directory Long Distance pages,
  • search for international dialing codes on the Internet, or
  • ask your contacts abroad to make sure they supply their area codes along with their cellular numbers.

You can text with people in an ever-growing list of countries. Please see our list of countries, providers and country codes.

Note:
Not all wireless carriers in each destination listed will have services compatible with SaskTel. As a result, a text message sent to a person who is a customer of such a wireless carrier may not be deliverable. Also at times, you may experience inconsistencies in message delivery if the receiving party is roaming off their home network or has recently changed their service provider while maintaining their original phone number. This is a limitation of the International delivery network, not of the SaskTel cellular network, and we regret any inconvenience this may cause.
