Junior Achievement receives $10,000 from SaskTel

June 11, 2014

As Saskatchewan  continues to flourish we are looking to the future. That future is the youth of our province and  thanks to SaskTel students in Saskatchewan will also be looking toward their  futures with educational programming from Junior Achievement.  The $10,000 sponsorship from SaskTel will  ensure that more than 1000 elementary school students in Saskatchewan will be  presented the “Technology &  Innovation” program through Junior Achievement.   This program encourages students to define  new ideas for business and society by learning about our technological past and  present.  Technology &  Innovation helps students discover the value and necessity of change in  economic and social progress.

“As SaskTel looks  to long term sustainability in a market continually more driven by technology,  our ability to transition from our roots as a telecommunications company to a  full service Information Communications Technology (ICT) company  is largely dependent on the next generation  of employees, our youth,” says Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO.  “Any program that engages youth to adopt and  explore the possibilities of technology is one that SaskTel supports because  these young innovators represent the future of our company.”

About the "Technology & Innovation" Program

Technology & Innovation engages elementary school students in activities to define new ideas  for business and society by learning about our technological past and present.  Volunteers lead an exploration of our major business sectors and the  contributions of Canadian inventors. Technology  & Innovation helps students discover the value and necessity of  change in economic and social progress.
