SaskTel increases High Speed Internet access and speeds

SaskTel continues to increase High Speed Internet access and speeds in Saskatchewan

Today SaskTel announced effective October 22, residents of Creelman, Elfros, Eyebrow and Marquis will now be able to enjoy the benefits of High Speed Internet service with the launch of SaskTel High Speed Basic Internet, giving download speeds of up to 5 Mbps (megabits per second) and High Speed Advanced Internet, that gives download speeds of up to 10 Mbps.

In addition, residents of the following 47 communities will now be able to subscribe to faster High Speed Internet service than was formerly available with the launch of SaskTel High Speed Advanced Internet, that gives download speeds of up to 10 Mbps: Beauval, Beechy, Borden, Bruno, Buchanan, Carievale,  Carnduff, Chaplin, Choiceland, Christopher Lake, Clavet, Climax, Coleville, Drake, Dysart, Earl Grey, Fillmore, Fox Valley, Gainsborough, Glenavon, Goodsoil, Govan, Grayson, Harris, Invermay, Kelliher, Kennedy, Laird, Lake Lenore, Lucky Lake, Marsden, McLean, Meath Park , Middle Lake, Milden, Mortlach, Muenster, Punnichy, Sheho, Spalding, Spy Hill, Star Blanket Cree Nation, Tompkins, Viscount, Vonda, Waldeck, and Windthorst.

“Our government recognizes rural Saskatchewan needs access to High Speed Internet,” said Kevin Doherty, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “The world is becoming increasingly connected and this expansion will benefit both private customers using the Internet for home entertainment and business customers working from their home community.”

This expansion is part of the long-term strategy to increase access to High Speed Internet in rural Saskatchewan that was introduced at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities 2013 annual conference. SaskTel’s Rural Strategy includes upgrading speeds to 10 Mbps download in over 220 existing DSL communities, in addition to expanding SaskTel High Speed Internet with speeds of up to 10 Mbps to 50 additional communities. SaskTel provides DSL Internet access to over 400 communities and First Nations in Saskatchewan.
