Mission: Saskatchewan Abilities Council Summer Fun Program
Date: Thursday August 7, 2008
Time: 10:00am-4:00pm
Location: Saskatoon

The Target: The Summer Fun Program’s goal is to provide an exciting, fun-filled recreational program to children and youth with physical disabilities. The program provides an opportunity to meet with friends and participate in leisure activities in the community, thus fostering independence, self-confidence and increasing community awareness of the interests and needs of those with disabilities. The program allows children and youth to enjoy some of the same opportunities for recreation and time away from parents as other young people.

Your assignment: Community Corp Volunteers will assist with taking 20 participants to the Saskatoon Exhibition. Volunteers will help with rides, refreshments, pushing wheelchairs, etc.

The Payoff: Volunteers will receive a free pass to the Exhibition to use on the day of their choice.

Time: August 16: 10:00am-4:00pm, August 23: 9:00am-finish

The Target: This community corps event entails continuing the painting of a mural covering the back wall of the Royal Canadian Legion building on 1820 Hamilton Street. Your assignment: Volunteers will spend the first Saturday learning about the Royal Canadian Legion, and collaborating with Jolene Erherdt to design the mural. The following Saturday, August 23rd, volunteers will gather at the RCL on 1820 Hamilton Street and paint the mural.

The Payoff: Volunteers will receive two Roughrider tickets to either the September 20th home game against the B.C. Lions, or the October 25th game against the Edmonton Eskimos.
