SaskTel: Invested in Saskatchewan

As Saskatchewan’s homegrown communications provider, SaskTel has always been firmly committed to the people of our province. Despite a year of global economic uncertainty, SaskTel further demonstrated our commitment to Saskatchewan by investing over $1 billion across the province in our infrastructure, operations, and local purchases. These investments ensured that our customers could connect to what matters to them during a very challenging year. They also helped to support local businesses and ultimately laid the foundation for a stronger, more connected future for Saskatchewan.

Partnering Locally for the Future

Throughout our history, we have proudly worked with incredible Saskatchewan-based suppliers and small businesses to create local jobs and spur innovation. In 2020-21, we continued to strengthen our local ties by spending over $400 million purchasing products and services from more than 2,400 Saskatchewan-based suppliers and businesses. By spending these dollars locally, we ensure more money stays close to home where it can be used to improve the quality of life in communities all across Saskatchewan.

Looking to the future, we will continue to seek out opportunities to work with Saskatchewan-owned businesses to reinforce growth in our provincial economy.

Rising to the Connectivity Challenge

In 2020-21, we also invested over $300 million to improve and expand our networks throughout the province. Thanks to these investments, more Saskatchewan families and businesses have access to advanced broadband speeds. In addition, our wireless network grew to include over 1,000 cell sites, further increasing the size of Saskatchewan's largest wireless network, bringing critical wireless service to more areas.

As we continue to invest in our networks and begin the rollout of our 5G network, we will ensure our healthcare, education, innovation, and agriculture sectors can continue to harness the power of data and new technologies for the good of Saskatchewan people.

Elevating Our Communities

As a local company, we know that our business is only as strong as the localities in which we operate. In nearly 50 communities throughout the province, more than 2,600 permanent SaskTel employees live and breathe Saskatchewan, buy and spend locally, and participate in the social and cultural life around them.

The success and needs of our customers and communities are inextricably linked together. Our investments in Saskatchewan supported job creation and economic growth during a time of widespread challenge. By building on our efforts this year and in years to come, we see tremendous potential for the future.

In this pivotal time, as Saskatchewan people begin to safely increase their economic and social activities, SaskTel will continue doing what we can to create a brighter and more connected future for us all.
