SaskTel to turn down WBBI service January 30, 2015

February 2, 2015

Today SaskTel announced that as a result of the successful migration of WBBI (Wireless Broadband Internet) customers to the new High Speed Fusion Internet service, a fixed wireless LTE-TDD service, SaskTel officially shut down the WBBI service on January 30, 2015.

In addition to completing WBBI customer migrations, SaskTel has also commercially launched High Speed Fusion service for new subscribers being served from 38 different tower locations including: Annaheim, Avonlea, Beechy, Bruno, Candle Lake, Canora, Central Butte, Choiceland, Climax, Dorintosh, Dysart, Eatonia, Elbow, Etomami Lake, Fort Qu'Appelle, Hafford, Hague, Hirsch, Hodgeville, Kinistino, Lajord, Leask, Lemburg, Lestock, Mankota, Meath Park, Middle Lake, Neilburg, Nipawin, Orkney, Paynton, Peebles, Prince Albert, Raymore, Rosthern, Stewart Valley, Viscount and Wimmer. SaskTel plans to commercially launch the remaining 17 tower locations in 2015.

“High Speed Fusion Internet service will provide customers with; more than twice the speed that was possible with our former WBBI service,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. “We were the first to offer this service in North America and based on initial feedback we have received, customers are very happy with the upgraded service.”

SaskTel High Speed Fusion Internet service is the recommended Internet choice for customers in locations formerly served by WBBI, however, customers can still choose SaskTel Satellite Internet service or 4G mobile Internet service if they reside within a 4G coverage area. See Appendix for the full range of service options and prices.

SaskTel High Speed Fusion Internet is available for $79.95 per month and will offer download speeds of up to 5 Mbps (Megabits per second). With a download speed of 5 Mbps customers can download 10 photos in as quick as 1 minute, download 15 songs in as fast as 2 minutes or download a (regular/standard) movie in just 45 minutes.
