SaskTel today announced it will be introducing LTE wireless technology in the following seven resort communities in rural Saskatchewan to address ever-growing customer demand: Buffalo Pound, Cochin, Christopher Lake, Sarnia Beach, Shell Lake, Wakaw Lake, and Waskesiu. SaskTel will be adding an LTE network carrier in these seven communities which will enhance the current tower capacity by 20% to 100%.

“SaskTel understands the importance of providing advanced communications services in rural areas and will continue to enhance the wireless network to improve customer experience,” said Jim Reiter, Minister Responsible for SaskTel.

“SaskTel is pleased to provide the LTE wireless technology that these communities need in order to address ongoing demand for bandwidth,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. “Not only are we the first and only provider to extend wireless coverage to resorts, we are also committed to investing in the service to add capacity to keep pace with demand.”

SaskTel anticipates that the LTE enhancement in the communities of Cochin, Christopher Lake, Sarnia Beach, Shell Lake, Wakaw Lake, and Waskesiu will be completed in time for the Canada Day Long Weekend and Buffalo Pound is expected to be completed in time for the August Long Weekend.
