SaskTel remains focused on Corporate Social Responsibility

August 7, 2018

SaskTel today released its 2017/18 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report reinforcing the company’s commitment to being an ethical, active, and engaged member of the communities it serves in the province of Saskatchewan.

“SaskTel has been proudly operating for 110 years and investing in the communities where we live and work has always been a priority for the company and our employees,” said Doug Burnett, Acting SaskTel President and CEO. “We believe our commitment to our customers goes beyond simply providing world-class products and services and this is what truly sets us apart from our competition.”

In 2017/18, SaskTel built on its legacy of providing Saskatchewan with access to a world-class network by making over $302 million in capital expenditures to expand and improve the speeds of its networks and enhance its ability to deliver the services customers rely on. Beyond the infrastructure investment, SaskTel continued its focus on providing amazing customer experiences by improving the tools frontline staff use to provide customers with the services they want and need, while also increasing customers’ ability to interact with the company in the way they like best.

The Corporation maintained its tradition of always giving back to the communities it serves through a combination of sponsorships, donations, volunteering, and community engagement programs. In 2017/18, SaskTel contributed more than $3.0 million to nearly 1,000 non-profit and charitable organizations, community associations, venues, events and partnerships in more than 200 communities across Saskatchewan. In addition, the SaskTel Pioneers volunteered their time, talents, and skills for over 100 ongoing community projects contributing more than $182,300 in charitable donations and logging more than 31,400 hours of volunteer time in support of initiatives that help improve communities across Saskatchewan.

SaskTel also continues to bring awareness to bullying and cyber-bullying prevention through its I am Stronger (IAS) initiative. Since the launch of the IAS program, $51,935 has been awarded in grants to youth in communities all over the province allowing them to implement their own bullying prevention initiatives. “We recognize that the products and services we sell may be used by bullies in their activities and we are working hard to counter the potential negative impacts associated with evolving communications technologies,” added Burnett.
