SaskTel continues to upgrade internet speeds in rural Saskatchewan

August 29, 2018

Today SaskTel announced it is bringing faster internet to six rural communities.  The residents of Birch Hills, Carrot River, Fort Qu’Appelle, Hudson Bay, Moosomin and Porcupine Plain can now enjoy SaskTel’s interNET Extended 25 service.

“Increasing access to fast internet service in rural Saskatchewan is a key priority of our government,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel.  “By expanding interNET Extended 25 to more communities, SaskTel is opening the door to new and exciting opportunities for the people who live and work in rural Saskatchewan.”

“SaskTel is committed to investing in cutting-edge technologies that provide our customers the tools they need to connect with their world,” said Doug Burnett, Acting SaskTel President and CEO. “With interNET Extended 25, our rural customers will have more bandwidth than ever before to get the most out of their internet service.”

interNET Extended 25 provides download speeds up to 25 Megabits per second (Mbps) and comes with unlimited usage, in-home Wi-Fi, spam and email virus filtering, and 24/7 helpdesk support – all for one low monthly price.

These internet upgrades are part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest $301 million of capital in Saskatchewan in 2018/19 and over $1.4 billion through 2018-2023. These investments will ensure that all Saskatchewan residents will continue to receive some of the best communication and entertainment services in the world.
