SaskTel Internet and maxTV Stream coming to the sandy shores of Hitchcock Bay

September 24, 2020

SaskTel today announced that beginning on September 30th, residents in the Resort Village of Hitchcock Bay will be able to access DSL Internet along with the next-generation in television and entertainment with the launch of interNET Extended 5 and 10 as well as maxTV Stream.

“Our government understands how important communications and entertainment services are and we are extremely pleased to see that more Saskatchewan residents will soon be able to access SaskTel’s Internet and maxTV Stream service,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel.

maxTV Stream combines the best of traditional television with advanced technology and the latest over-the-top (OTT) content from Netflix and YouTube. Available in over 370 communities, maxTV stream is setting a new standard for television and entertainment throughout Saskatchewan with innovative features, such as:

  • Restart TV – Restart live TV up to 72 hours in the past so you’ll never miss your show again.
  • maxTV App – Watch live TV and VOD programming on your smartphone or tablet, anywhere in Canada.
  • Built-in applications – Easily access Netflix, YouTube, and more right from your media box.
  • State-of-the-art equipment – Control your TV like never before with Bluetooth and voice command technology.

SaskTel’s interNET Extended 5 offers download speeds up to 5 Mbps while interNET Extended 10 offers download speeds up to 10 Mbps. All SaskTel interNET packages come with unlimited usage, in-home Wi-Fi, and 24/7 helpdesk support.

“As Saskatchewan’s homegrown communications leader we take a great amount of pride in connecting our customers to what matters most to them and thanks to this expansion, residents of Hitchcock Bay will be able to stay in-touch while enjoying everything that Lake Diefenbaker has to offer,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO.

This expansion was made possible by SaskTel’s Community Participation Program in partnership with the Resort Village of Hitchcock Bay. The Community Participation Program provides communities that do not meet SaskTel’s criteria for service expansion with the opportunity to access new or enhanced wireless and broadband services. Through the program, communities provide a portion of the funds required to cover the capital costs to bring SaskTel services to their residents. This program helps SaskTel to sustainably expand services to areas of the province where it may not otherwise be economically feasible to do so.
