SaskTel Releases its 2019/20 CSR Report

November 16, 2020

All the ways "SaskTel Cares"

Today SaskTel announced the release of its 2019/20 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, detailing the company’s accomplishments and measurable goals in the areas of environmental stewardship, ethical leadership, inclusiveness, diversity, and community support.

“SaskTel continues to prove year after year that it is not just a service provider, it is leaving a legacy in the province of Saskatchewan,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “This year’s report highlights the numerous CSR programs and initiatives SaskTel has built into its business strategy, reinforcing why it remains not only the province’s provider of choice, but also a top employer of choice.”

The release of SaskTel’s CSR Report comes on the same day SaskTel is launching its SaskTel Cares program. SaskTel Cares represents all of SaskTel’s CSR efforts. SaskTel has been a major supporter of the Saskatchewan community for more than a century. The thousands of causes SaskTel has supported over the years, and the hundreds still supported today, will now be part of one big family called SaskTel Cares.

“We know that our customers want to do business with companies that share their values and put them first,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. “We haven’t changed the way we are doing business, but with the launch of SaskTel Cares, the goal will be to bring more awareness to the many things that we do in the communities where our employees live and work.”

In line with SaskTel’s focus on addressing diversity, inclusion, health, environment and community, some highlights from this year’s report include:

  • SaskTel contributed just under $2.9 million to 957 non-profit and charitable organizations, community associations, venues, events and partnerships in more than 233 communities across the province
  • SaskTel Pioneers continue to be noticeable volunteers in local communities, with more than 42,000 hours of volunteer time
  • SaskTel’s Supported Employment Program is just one of several diversity initiatives that continue to make SaskTel a Best Diversity Employer in Canada
  • SaskTel’s EnviroCare team marked its five-year anniversary by officially reaching $5,000 worth of funds from recycling cans and bottles

These examples represent just a small fraction of SaskTel’s many CSR activities detailed in the SaskTel 2019/20 CSR Report.
