During the week of November 9, 2026, maxTV will make your TV viewing experience simpler by offering only high definition (HD) versions of channels that were previously available in both standard definition (SD) and HD.
Why is this change happening?
We’ve improved our networks over the years, allowing us to provide HD to more locations. As well, subscribers have shown a strong preference for HD channels, and SD channel viewing has significantly decreased. By removing the SD versions of channels that are also available in HD, SaskTel can shift focus toward improving other aspects of our TV services.
What do I need to do?
If you aren’t receiving HD channels, please give us a call at 1.844.SASKTEL (1.844.727.5835), and one of our agents will be happy to help you out.
New Channel Numbers
In most cases, the HD version of a channel will take over the channel number currently used by the SD version. For example, CBC is currently on channel 3 (SD) and 303 (HD). After this change, CBC HD will be on channel 3. For a full list of these channels, see sasktel.com/support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are all SD channels being discontinued?
No. Only those that have an HD equivalent are being removed. For example, after the change, all Intro channels except nine will only be available in HD. These Intro channels will remain in SD:
- Al Jazeera
- AMI-télé
- CPAC French
- Daystar
- The Miracle Channel
- RDI
- Stingray Retro
- TVA Montreal
- UNIS
How can I check if a channel is in HD?
When watching a show, press the Info button on the remote to open the program info. If the channel is HD, you’ll see “HD” next to its name (like CBC HD). Most HD shows also have an HD icon near the time remaining.
I don't have a high-definition television. Can I still watch shows in HD?
You will still be able to watch HD channels, but won't receive full HD picture quality. For more on watching shows in HD, visit sasktel.com/support.
I’m still not receiving HD service. What do I need to do?
Please call us at 1.844.SASKTEL (1.844.727.5835), and one of our agents will be happy to help. In most cases, we’ll need to schedule a technician visit to upgrade your network so you can receive HD channels.
After the technician upgrades my service, is there anything I need to do before I start watching shows in HD?

I was told I needed a SaskTel technician to upgrade my maxTV for HD. But when they arrived, I was told the upgrade couldn't be done. Why did I get the notification letter?
At the time we sent the letter, our records indicated your location was eligible for an upgrade but needed a technician to complete the work. Upgrade eligibility can be affected by various factors that may change daily for a small number of customers. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
