TelCare is one of SaskTel’s most important holiday giving initiatives.

Since 1950, SaskTel’s TelCare fund has been making an impact in Saskatchewan communities. Over the last 66 years, the fund has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to local charities selected by SaskTel employees.

“TelCare has become a special tradition championed by our employees for over 65 years,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. “This completely voluntary program is an excellent reflection of SaskTel’s corporate culture and values, and has been embraced by our employees all over the Province.”

In December 2016, TelCare’s approximate 1000 members donated $194,285, and SaskTel matched their contributions to make the TelCare total $291,425. These funds were then given back to support 69 charitable organizations in our province.

The TelCare fund is contributed to by SaskTel employees who become members. These individuals have regular deductions taken directly and automatically off of their pay cheques, and the money is placed in a special account specifically for TelCare. This fund, which is also contributed to by other TelCare specific donations, are dispersed on an annual basis to local charities. Most importantly, the money raised in each community stays in that community, which allows members to tangibly see the impact of their donation right at home.

Employee donations have a bigger impact when donated through TelCare, as all employee donations are corporately matched by SaskTel with an additional 50 cents on the dollar. So, for example, if an employee gives $10, SaskTel will give an additional $5, which increases the impact that it can have in your community.
