SaskTel to expand High Speed Internet access to more rural

Today SaskTel announced plans to expand High Speed Internet to 15 rural communities in 2017/18. The residents of Deer Valley, Ebenezer, Grasswood, Guernsey, Maryfield, Mervin, Neville, Pennant, Sceptre, Stenen, Tantallon, Togo, Tugaske, Veregin, and Yellow Creek will be able to enjoy the benefits of fast and reliable High Speed Internet with the introduction of High Speed Basic and High Speed Advanced Internet in all 15 communities.

“Our government understands that the rural residents of Saskatchewan require access to fast and reliable Internet services,” said Dustin Duncan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “By expanding and enhancing High Speed Internet in these rural communities, SaskTel is creating more opportunities for residents in rural Saskatchewan to access commerce, employment and educational opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.”

“SaskTel is pleased to expand our High Speed Internet service to so many rural communities in 2017/18,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. “It gives us a great sense of pride knowing that both the residents and businesses in these communities will significantly benefit from our internet service.”

"SARM" is pleased to see that investments are being made in rural Saskatchewan to improve broadband services. Faster download speeds and reliable internet connections have become vital requirements for businesses to remain competitive and for residents to access important services,” said Ray Orb Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) President.

This expansion is part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest $1.4 billion in capital in Saskatchewan through 2016-2021. Investments like these will ensure that Saskatchewan will continue to receive some of the best communication and entertainment services in the world.

SaskTel High Speed Basic Internet offers download speeds of up to 5 Mbps while High Speed Advanced Internet offers download speeds of up to 10 Mbps. All SaskTel High Speed Internet packages include unlimited usage, free installation, in-home Wi-Fi, spam and email virus filtering, and 24/7 helpdesk support – all for one low monthly price.
