SaskTel stretches internet service straight to Crooked Lake

December 3, 2019

SaskTel today announced that it has launched DSL internet service in several resort communities around Crooked Lake, including Melville Beach, Moose Bay, and Sunset Beach. This expansion was made possible by SaskTel’s Community Participation Program in partnership with these resort communities.

“Our government understands how important it is for the people of our province to have access to advanced and reliable communication services wherever they may be in Saskatchewan,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “It’s also great to see that these residents took the initiative to work together with SaskTel to bring internet service to their communities.”

The Community Participation Program provides communities that do not meet SaskTel’s criteria for service expansion an opportunity to receive SaskTel services. Through the program, communities provide a portion of the funds required to cover the capital costs to bring SaskTel services to their residents. This program allows SaskTel to responsibly and sustainably expand services to areas of the province where it may not otherwise be economically feasible to do so.

“With our DSL internet service, our customers in these communities now have the connection they need to surf, download and share their content, all the while enjoying all the beauty and fun that Crooked Lake has to offer,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO.

Residents and businesses in these resort communities now have two SaskTel Internet packages to choose from, interNET Extended 5 and interNET Extended 10. interNET Extended 5 offers download speeds up to 5 Mbps while interNET Extended 10 offers download speeds up to 10 Mbps and all SaskTel interNET packages come with unlimited usage, in-home Wi-Fi, and 24/7 helpdesk support.
