SaskTel Extends Waiving of Data Overage Charges to May 31st, 2020

April 24, 2020

SaskTel today announced it is extending the waiving of data overage charges to May 31st, 2020. There will be no data overage charges (domestic data) for business or consumer customers, on SaskTel’s postpaid Wireless plans, noSTRINGS Prepaid wireless plans or SaskTel fusion Internet plans from March 17th to May 31st, 2020.

“Keeping the province connected throughout the COVID-19 outbreak remains SaskTel’s number one priority, and we are pleased to extend this offer,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. “SaskTel has invested $1.4 billion in its networks over the past 5 years to enhance and expand wireless, television, internet, data, and IP-based technologies across the province and this investment has allowed us to reliably provide critical communications services to our customers.”

SaskTel will also continue to provide additional free content to its residential maxTV and maxTV Stream customers, with current access to over 50 channels on free preview. See full list.

Since mid-March, SaskTel’s networks have experienced an increase in wireless data traffic of approximately 37%, fusion Internet network traffic has increased of up to 96%, Internet data traffic is up about 10%, and maxTV has seen an increase in content delivery traffic of 37%.

“Even in the face of significant increases in traffic and a shift in where our customers are working, SaskTel’s networks and systems have performed very well,” added Burnett.
