Talk + Text + Data Plans FAQ
Talk + Text + Data Plans FAQ
Talk + Text + Data wireless plans allow customers who bring their own device, or purchase a device at the full retail price, to get basic voice, text messaging, and 3G speed data for a lower price. These plans are great if you use your device infrequently or have low usage needs. See plan details.
Why can’t I get a $0 device, or get a device on a 2-year term when subscribing to a Talk + Text + Data plan?
Talk + Text + Data rate plans are intended for customers who bring their own device or purchase a device at the full retail price. If you already have a device, you can call 1.800.SASKTEL (1.800.727.5835) or visit a SaskTel Store or Authorized Dealer to have it activated. If you want to purchase a new device online and activate it on a Talk + Text + Data plan, you must select “Retail Price” and then choose the “Device Only” pricing option when you select your device.
Why can’t I change to a Talk + Text + Data plan when I’m on a contract?
You can’t switch to the Talk + Text + Data plans if you’re currently on a contract because you may have an outstanding early device upgrade balance, or Plus Pricing payments. If you want to switch to this plan, you can end your contract and pay any applicable cancellation fees and outstanding device balances or payments. If you’re currently on a contract and want to switch to one of these plans, please call us at 1.800.SASKTEL (1.800.727.5835) or visit a SaskTel Store or Authorized Dealer to discuss your options.
Why can’t I get other discounts while I’m on these plans?
These plans already have a built-in discount for customers bringing their own device or paying full price for a device. Talk + Text + Data plans are not eligible for additional wireless discounts including the Bring Your Own Device discount, bundle discount, or student discount.
What is “3G speed”?
Talk + Text + Data plans are limited to 3G data speeds, which are a maximum of 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speed. This means you may experience longer download times when downloading large files such as audio or video, and it may take longer to upload large files, such as posting photos or videos to social media or sending email with attachments. If you are streaming video, you may experience lower video quality and more buffering.
An LTE experience is capable of much faster download and upload speeds. If you need more speed, LTE data speeds are available on our Unlimited plans.
Will 250 MB or 3 GB be enough data for me in a month?
You can use our data usage calculator to help determine if there is enough data included in these plans for your wireless data usage needs. If you need more data, check out our Unlimited plans.
