The SaskTel Board of Directors today announced that Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO, has decided to retire at the end of May to early June 2023 timeframe, with an effective date that allows for a smooth transition to be determined.

“The board is extremely grateful for Doug’s leadership during his tenure as President and CEO of SaskTel,” said SaskTel Board Chair Grant Kook. “Doug is an exceptional leader with a track record for delivering on results year over year. We are thankful for Doug’s remarkable vision, innovation, and commitment to providing world-class communications services to the province of Saskatchewan.”

During Doug’s time as President, he made significant contributions to the ongoing success of SaskTel, leading the strategic direction of the company in a highly competitive communications industry. SaskTel also undertook significant infrastructure projects including SaskTel’s 5G Network Modernization Program, Wireless Saskatchewan, and the ongoing Rural Fibre Initiative under his guidance.

"I'd like to thank Doug for his over 30 years of service to SaskTel, and for his leadership in navigating a complex and competitive industry," said Don Morgan, Minister responsible for SaskTel. "Doug has been instrumental in delivering on our government’s plan to build a better Saskatchewan by investing in infrastructure that supports and strengthens growth and continued prosperity in all communities in our province.”

Doug holds a Bachelor of Arts B(BA) degree from the University of Regina, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Certified Human Resources Professional designation.
