Today, SaskTel is proud to announce that its commitment to offering outstanding career-shaping opportunities for young people has been recognized by the organizers of Canada's Top 100 Employers (Mediacorp Canada Inc.), who have selected SaskTel as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People in 2023.

“It’s an honour to be recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for the eleventh consecutive year, all thanks to the exceptional team at SaskTel,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. “We are committed to ensuring all of our employees, especially young professionals starting their careers at SaskTel, can access the programs and training to advance their professional growth and development, all the while aligning with the needs and values of our business.”

“At SaskTel, our people are our strength,” said Shara McCormick, SaskTel Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Services. “We believe that one of our greatest assets is the ingenuity and energy of our next generation workforce. Those students who currently sit in the classrooms of post-secondary institutions or high schools hold the key to the future of our organization, as well as our province.”

Canada's Top Employers for Young People recognizes employers that offer the nation's best workplaces and programs for young people. Evaluation criteria include attraction and retention programs, mentorship and training programs and career management programs.

SaskTel met the criteria for this award based on their commitment to supporting the engagement and development of students and young professionals through the following programs and initiatives:

  • Summer employment, co-op programs, and numerous scholarship awards for students.
  • SaskTel’s Voluntary Out-of-Hour Educational Assistance program (VOOHE) which reimburses the tuition and course-related fees of approved out-of-hour education classes.
  • SaskTel Opportunities, Networking, Events (SaskTel O.N.E.) for employees who believe in the future of SaskTel, shaping the next generation of leaders through employee and community engagement.
